Primordial Qigong Workshop
May 23-24, 2026
Primordial Qigong, also known as Hunyuan Gong, is a system of twelve physical movements combined with directed energy (qi) flow, originally attributed to the renowned Daoist priest, Hu Yaozhen (1879-1973), though its roots may be older. Hu passed the skill on to Chen Style Taiji Quan Master Feng Zhiqiang, who taught it to Madame Gao Fu. My teacher, Kenneth Cohen, studied this system with both Dr. Feng and Madame Gao.
Primordial Qigong is so called because it invites us back to our primordial state of being, bringing balance to a variety of different physical and emotional conditions, and offering benefits such as improving the function of the respiratory system, digestive system, circulatory system, and nervous system, strengthening the internal organs, increasing the elimination of toxins, and clearing the meridians.
You can read more details about this powerful qigong method on Ken Cohen’s website.

healing qigong
Healing Qigong is sometimes called “medical qigong,” though I don’t typically use that term. This oldest form of TCM uses direct observation of and interaction with the energy system to assess and rebalance qi flow within the body. Qigong can be a practice you do yourself, including movement, breathing, and visualisation, or can be offered by a practitioner to a client who is receiving a treatment. Its effectiveness in a number of health domains continues to be documented through research.
The session of Medical Qigong that I experienced with Tamara was the most profound, helpful, moving, and revelatory of my entire life. I have never felt that much energy flowing through my body, and I have experienced some very helpful shiatsu, acupuncture, acupressure, and massage over the years. I highly recommend her services, and her rates are very reasonable.

Tamara also offers in-person, hands-on sessions ranging from 45- to 60-minute chair massage sessions to 60-, 90-, or 120-minute table treatments in acupressure, deep tissue massage, or healing qigong.
